彼女が、アラスカの Katmai National Park、ビーバー池の近くで、従姉妹と一緒にいるという第一報がレンジャーから入った。昨年より10日ほど早い登場だ。

冬眠を終えた彼女は、Brooks Falls 周辺に遡上するサーモンを求めて、今年もこの季節の場所へ戻ってきた。

続く情報を待っているけれど、今のところ、まだ届いてはいない。

彼女とは、2021年、まだ子グマだった頃から見守り、描き続けている一頭の Brown bear。

現在は Katmai National Park で 609 として識別されている。

私の 「Little B」 シリーズは、彼女の成長を描くところから始まった。

例年、explore.org の定点カメラが動き出すのは6月中旬から下旬にかけて。

それまでは、レンジャーからの情報や、現地のカメラマンたちがSNSで共有してくれる姿を通して、アラスカ、カトマイに生きる Brown bears の様子を知ることになる。

今年はこのブログで、絵と言葉を使いながら、彼女の季節を遠くから見守っていきたい。

She has appeared.

A ranger has reported the first sighting of her near the Beaver Pond in Katmai National Park, Alaska, together with her cousin. She has appeared about ten days earlier than last year.

After emerging from hibernation, she has returned once again to this seasonal place, following the salmon that make their way upstream around Brooks Falls.

I am waiting for further updates, but for now, no additional news has come in.

She is a brown bear I have been watching and drawing since 2021, when she was still a cub.

Today, she is identified as 609 by Katmai National Park.

My Little B series began with following her growth through my drawings.

In most years, the explore.org live cameras begin operating sometime between mid and late June.

Until then, we come to know the lives of the Brown bears in Katmai, Alaska, through reports from rangers and images shared on social media by photographers in the field.

This year, I would like to follow her season from afar here on this blog, through paintings and words.
