アラスカ時間の6月30日から7月6日までの一週間、609は昼前後から午後にかけて、何度も Brooks River 周辺に姿を見せた。

そこで彼女はサーモンを2匹キャッチした。

その後、ナクネク湖に現れて、中洲で307と少しだけ時間を過ごす。

日本時間では7月7日の早朝、アラスカ時間では7月6日の昼前。

久しぶりに晴れたこの日、川はたくさんのクマで賑わった。親子も多い。

サーモンが本格的に川を上り出したのだ。

彼女も下流側から上流へ向かい、滝上へと向かった。428と並びながらサーモンを待つ 。

428が去り、あとから現れた子連れの17が去った後も、609はひとり残ってフィッシングを続ける。

最後に大きな一匹をくわえると、彼女は滝を降りた。

そして、この記事を書いている間にも彼女は再び浅瀬に姿を見せた。

それでもまだ川は明るい。

During the week from June 30 to July 6, Alaska time, 609 appeared several times around Brooks River, often from around midday into the afternoon.

Here is a brief record.

She appeared at Brooks Falls, as if to check on the falls.

7.1

After resting and looking out toward Naknek Lake, she appeared at the cut bank, just downstream from the falls.

She swam near the place where Naknek Lake and Brooks River meet.

She chased salmon near the edge of the island, and later made her way to the cut bank.

She appeared above the falls and caught a salmon. After showing up once on the downstream side near Naknek Lake, she returned to the falls.

Her cousin 428 was already standing above the falls. Though 428 seemed to keep her a little in check, they stood side by side. There, 609 caught two salmon. Later, she appeared again on the Naknek Lake side and spent a short time near the island with 307.

She moved around the island area, chasing salmon.

In Japan, it was the early morning of July 7. In Alaska, it was just before noon on July 6.

It was a clear day after several cloudy ones, and the river was busy with many bears, including several mothers with cubs. The salmon had begun to move upriver in earnest.

609 also made her way from the lower river upstream toward the falls. She stood beside 428 and waited for salmon.

After 428 left, and after 17, who had appeared later, also moved away, 609 remained alone and continued fishing.

At last, with a large salmon in her mouth, she left the falls.

And even as I was writing this, she appeared again in the shallows.

It is now 20:00 in Alaska.

The river is still bright.

The painting I am working on is a study based on her appearance on June 28.

She had stopped near the island, as if catching the scent of the wind.

What lies beyond her gaze is a place the cameras cannot show, a place we cannot see.
